Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born on April 15th 1990 in Paris. She lived there up to the age of 5. She then moved in Oxfordshire in England. She lives with her mother (Jacqueline, lawyer) and her brother (Alex, born in 1993) since her parents divorced. But she regularly continues to see her father (Chris, lawyer). Emma has also two cats: Bubbles and Domino.
Since she is very young, Emma has wanted to be an artist. At the age of 7, she gained a contest of poetry. She then played the part of the “Fée Morgane” in "Arthur: les jeunes années ", in her school, then one of the principal roles in" The Happy Prince ". When the director of “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” (Chris Columbus) and the producer (David Heyman) sought an actress to play the part of Hermione, the Emma’s theatre teacher encouraged her to go to hearing. At the end of 15 hearings, she finally obtained the role. This year (2007), Emma has signed a new contract with Warner Bros to play out her role as Hermione in all 7 of the Harry Potter films.
At the age of 10, Emma began filming the her first role as Hermione Granger in: Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone – the first instalment of the Harry Potter movies taken from the hugely popular books written by J.K Rowling. Even though Ms Rowling had not yet met Emma, she had said that after a chat on the phone with her she knew there and then that she was absolutely perfect for the role as the books main female character Hermione Granger.
Currently studying her A-Levels, Emma more than lives up to her Hermione reputation after passing all 10 of her GCSE exams in the summer of 2006 with 8 A+ (the highest grade you can get) and 2 A. Emma has said on a number of occasions that she would very much like to go to university, but she is interested in so many things that she would find it hard to choose a subject to study.
Emma adores the field hockey and plays in a team. She likes also the baseball, tennis, the song and dancing. Besides Emma would like to turn to the song later (do not please say that it will stop making films, reassure you!).
Emma likes to be treated like a normal teenager which is one of the reasons why she appeals to so many people around the world. Since 2003, Emma is at Headington School.
In June 2006, Watson took GCSE examinations in 10 subjects, achieving eight A* and two A grades. After leaving school, Watson took a gap year to film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows beginning in February 2009, but said she "definitely wanted to go to university". Watson has stated she is a Christian.
The Providence Journal reported that Watson had confirmed that she had chosen Brown University, located in Providence, Rhode Island. In March 2011, after 18 months at the university, Watson announced that she was deferring her course for "a semester or two", to give her more time to participate in the advertising buildup for the release of the second Deathly Hallows film, and other projects. Watson completed her junior year as a transfer student at Oxford University in England. Watson was due to return to Brown for her senior year, but has postponed her studies until further notice to work on film projects.
